Alyssa Milano was caught off guard when she tweeted “Biden” before the first presidential debate, but the actor who played him, Jake Tapper, didn’t hold back.
As a surprise guest on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Milano had the first question, and Tapper got into the middle of the debate, saying “The president has a tweet in his mouth right now.”
When Milano asked Tapper about the tweet, he responded, “Oh, I can’t comment on it right now.
I don’t have anything to add to what you just said.”
But it didn’t stop there.
As the debate went on, Milano tweeted the tweet.
But Tapper did not immediately apologize, instead saying, “I’ve never had a problem with anyone before.
I’m a big fan of ‘The Bachelorette,’ so that was a little unexpected.”
And when Milano returned to CNN, she told her viewers, “It’s funny, it’s not what I thought it was going to be.
And we had a fun discussion.
I know that I’m not a big Twitter fan, but I have to give Jake the benefit of the doubt.”
The tweet was soon deleted.
But the reaction was quick and intense.
On Monday, the “Bachelor” star tweeted, “Tapper, please don’t get mad at me.
I love you.”
And Tapper followed up the next day, saying, “#YouTweet” is a great hashtag.
“Thank you,” Milan replied.
“You’re a champion.
I was hoping that you would take this moment to let me know that you are so thankful.”
The actor did not tweet about the debate again, but did talk about the upcoming release of her documentary, “The Last Days of ‘Game of Thrones’,” about her character, Daenerys Targaryen.
Tapper wrote, “As soon as you hear this, I’ll be on Twitter, and I’ll retweet every single tweet you make about the movie.
That’s what’s so exciting about ‘Game Of Thrones’ — that you can really make it bigger than you know you can.
It’s an incredible platform for storytelling and for your voice to be heard.
And I can share it with you.”
He continued, “That’s why I’m thrilled to be part of ‘Sneak Peek: The Game of Thrones Movie,’ because it’s so awesome and so cool that you’ve finally found your voice.”
